An overview of FoxyRoxyLinux

Out of the box networking is working

Another thread that will need quite a bit of tiding up....

Be aware that out of the box, FoxyRoxy shares resources using both SMB and NFS
This means that certain parts of a FoxyRoxy machine can be seen and accessed by any computer on your network.

The "shares" being made by FoxyRoxy are:

SMB Share = /home/share/public
- This resource can be connected to by any Windows computer with full read/write/delete access
In the current configuration /home/share/public is a drive in RAM although all read/write create/delete access is also logged by "cow"
The configuration file for SAMBA is /etc/samba/smb.conf

NFS Share = /tmp
- This resource can be connected to be any Linux or OS-X (Apple) computer with full read/write/delete access
In the current configuration /tmp is FoxyRoxys primary temp directory and is in RAM. Therefore "cow" does not log any access.
NFS does not allow sharing of certain filesystems such as .squashfs mapped via AUFS.
/tmp was chosen to show that the NFS Server is working out-of-the-box and for testing purposes
The configuration file for exported NFS resources is /etc/exports

SSH Access
FoxyRoxy provides SSH terminal access on port 22

Web Server
FoxyRoxy has a web server (lighttpd) running on port 80
The web server base files reside in /usr/www

DLNA Media Server
FoxyRoxy has an embedded DLNA Server that serves media files to Smart TV's and other media players.
miniDLNA is now in initial Developers Release, although as it used about 5Mb of memory, it is not started when the system start. To start minidlna simple open a console/terminal and type "runminidlna start". We will add a full miniDLNA how-to/docs in the next few days. However, if you can't wait, have a look in /etc/minidlna
We hope this (sparse) info will tide you over for a few days.
